Meet The Coaches

Chris Beaven
I come from a rugby family, with both of my parents from New Zealand (go All Blacks!). Growing up in the U.S., I didn’t start playing rugby until college, but I’ve been passionate about the game ever since. I played for Loyola Rugby, where I was named to the SoCal Griffins select side in 2005, and later for the London School of Economics—always as a lock.
These days, my focus is on coaching youth sports and shaping the next generation of athletes. I’ve coached soccer and basketball, and I’m proud to be one of the founding coaches of Santa Rosa Youth Rugby. I currently coach the U10 team, where my son is a returning player.
I’m a USA Rugby Level 1 Certified Coach and Level 1 Certified Referee. My coaching philosophy is based on a simple set of rules: be safe, be a good sport, try hard, and have fun. What I love most about rugby is the community and camaraderie that are integral to the sport—values I hope every player carries with them on and off the field.

Colin Devlin
I have been playing rugby off and on for 20 years. I got my start playing in high school for Thee Elsie Allen Lobo Rugby Club. A few years after graduating and playing for the Santa Rosa Men’s Club. I went back to help coach the Lobos under Alan Petty. I have been coaching there for 12 years.
I am extremely passionate about the game and the development of the athletes in our programs. We have been successful in developing top-tier talent, watching kids who used to play for us go on and play for the U.S. Eagles, colleges and pro teams across the country and world. It has been a honor and a privilege to be apart of their journey. Hoping we can impact more kids and help them achieve their dreams.

Souk Khamda
Devoted father of three, Coach Khamda balances life on and off the field with his biggest supporters — his one-year-old daughter who keeps him on his toes, and his two sons who share his passion for sports.
A proud Lobos Rugby alumnus, Coach Souk played for three years in high school and still stands by the saying, “Once a Lobo, always a Lobo.” His love for the game came full circle when his oldest son discovered rugby at the very beginning of the club’s formation — when it was just a dream and a handful of kids on the field.
Now, Coach Souk has the honor of coaching his son and the U10 team, helping the next generation of players build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love for the sport that has given him so much.
